RECENT CHRONOLOGY - HIGHLIGHTS

2000 - Todd's renaissance farce Knave of Hearts  is premiered by Playing After Dark Ltd. to rave reviews and audience acclaim.

2001 - Todd is commissioned by the theatres division of the City of Brampton to write a truly frightening Hallowe'en-themed  play that is still suitable for a general audience. The result is the alternately terrifying and hilarious "Laugh?" I Thought I’d DIE!"  The play is staged by SLVS Productions at the Heritage Theatre in October, 2001.

2001 - Todd's play Thunderbolts and Dunderheads (a hilarious farce set amongst the Greek Gods of Mount Olympus) delights audiences and reviewers alike, creates several unforgettable comedic roles (especially for the women) and earns him the first-ever Bloom Award for Best Original Script in 2001/2002.

2001 - Knave of Hearts finds representation with online play publisher Directplays.com and becomes a very popular download.

2002 - Todd finishes work on a one-act psychological thriller, the compelling, dark and deeply disturbing, Trammel the Cull. Before the ink has dried, director Hope Hanson has selected the play as her entry for an adjudicated festival of one-acts.  Trammel the Cull takes top awards at the 2002 B.B.D.F. One Act Play Festival.

2002 - Playing After Dark Ltd. premieres Todd's  instantly beloved new comedy Gone Fishin’. A hilarious and heart-warming play about three estranged brothers forced to spend a day fishing together as a condition of their father's will, the show is so well received  that...

2003 - Gone Fishin'  was selected to open the City of Brampton's First Annual NewWorks Playwright Festival in 2004.

2003 - Progressing from the successful blend of silliness and sentiment he captured in Gone Fishin', Todd's latest work, Point of Viewing is premiered by Playing After Dark Ltd. A behind the scenes comedy about three women who co-host a top-rated daytime tv talk show, Point of Viewing throws its female leads into a maelstrom of  gossip-magazine revelations, backstage politics and charged up emotional breakthroughs. The result is a hilariously disastrous ---and ultimately, emotionally moving---  live-to-air tv broadcast.

2003 - Todd teams up with award-winning playwright T. Gregory Argall (author of A Year in the Death of Eddie Jester) and they begin work on their first co-venture, the absolutely hysterical, knock-down, drag-out comedy  Self-Help for Dummies.

2004 - as a free service to actors and actresses, Todd McGinnis and Playing After Dark.com begin to make monologues from Todd's works available online for audition purposes. Website traffic increases dramatically.

2004 - Gone Fishin'  gets the NewWorks Festival in Brampton off to a tremendous start, garnering rave reviews and enthusiastic word-of-mouth.

2004 - Kitchener/Waterloo Little Theatre buys the rights to perform Knave of Hearts through Directplays.com. Todd is thrilled to attend the premiere of KWLT's excellent production and to meet the very talented cast and crew who put it together.

2004 - Playing After Dark premieres Self-Help for Dummies which is another immediate hit.

2004 - On the strength of its tremendous audience response, and great reviews, it is announced that Playing After Dark Ltd. will revive Self-Help for Dummies to open the 2005 NewWorks Festival.

2005 - A new production of Thunderbolts and Dunderheads meets even greater success than the first productoin.

2005 - Self-Help for Dummies wows audiences again at the NewWorks Festival.

late 2005 - Due to ever-increasing demand for copies of his play scripts through the Playing After Dark website, Todd's works become available for order in book form from online and on-demand book publisher LULU.com. Knave of Hearts, Thunderbolts and Dunderheads and the one-act play Trammel the Cull are the first to go online.

2006 Point of Viewing, Gone Fishin', and Self-Help for Dummies are added to the online library.

Currently - Todd is hard at work with  T. Gregory Argall creating the book for an original musical as well as material for a sketch-comedy show to begin shooting in 2007.
